If you live on Catalina Island you can own a vehicle but with gas coating about $6.00 a gallon and there being few road it better be a small one. You also have to have a permit from the Conservancy that costs about $400 a year and have to have $500,000 in liability----cars are discouraged. If you are visiting and just can't walk you can rent a golf cart or take a shuttle.
